Third Decrum purchase for me, after a moto and a bomber, and the first that feels truly dressy. Its debut was at my cousin's fall wedding in the Berkshires. Ceremony outdoors, chilly, leaves everywhere, my heels sinking into the lawn, which was a whole thing. Over a green silk dress this light brown looked lovely, and the lining kept me warm through the vows while the bridesmaids shivered. The moto would have been too casual and the bomber too short. Also, the caterer ran out of the good crab cakes, still bitter. By the reception three relatives had asked about it.
Wore it for the first time to my niece's outdoor recital at a winery in Napa, late afternoon, wind picking up off the vines. I'd worried I'd be cold in a dress, but the lining kept me toasty and the coat came down far enough to cover most of my skirt. The light brown looked gorgeous with the golden light and my burgundy boots, and my sister took about forty photos of us in front of the barrels. I kept it buttoned through the whole performance, collar spread wide, and by the reception I'd had three people ask where it was from. It brushed clean of a little dust when I got home.

Somewhere between two back-to-back Zoom marathons I ordered this and totally forgot about it until the mailman rang, which tells you how my August's going, but oh my, that caramel tone is gorgeous and the plush interior is so warm I'll be skipping the car heater on school pickup come winter, it cinches at my middle so I don't resemble a burrito, the big collar frames my face, I managed every fastening one-handed holding a latte, and it reaches well past my hips which counts for a lot in Chicago gusts, also our beagle sniffed it suspiciously for a whole minute, anyway, lovely
Ordered this for my wife during a lunch break and didn't think about it again until the box was waiting on the porch. Cut the tape in the kitchen, lifted out the tissue, and the first thing that struck me was the color, a soft light brown, close to camel, warmer than it had looked on my phone. Two Decrum pieces in my closet now and this one is the total opposite of my cropped black moto, that one's for concerts and late nights while this tan beauty goes over pencil skirts to the office, it nips in so I have a silhouette, the oversized collar reads expensive, the fastenings feel substantial, and inside there's a cushy layer that's the coziest thing I've put on all season, tiny grumble, the shade arrived a touch paler than my monitor showed, but I've grown to prefer it and have worn it five days running

Walking through it piece by piece, because the details are why I kept wearing it. Start with the collar: generous, wide, shirt-style, and it lies open in a nice V or folds up when the wind off the lake gets mean. Down the front, a clean run of buttons, easy to manage with gloves on. The waist is tailored, and that's what makes this look like a real coat instead of a robe; it pulls in just enough to show some shape. Length lands at three-quarter, below the knee on some of my shorter dresses, mid-thigh over trousers. The lining is plush, warm, and smooth to slide over a sweater. Similar in cut to the camel version but this light brown shade is a touch softer and more neutral, easier to match with grey and navy. The wide collar frames the face nicely when worn open, which I noticed when I wore it to a photo day at my daughter's school.
Wasn't sure about ordering a coat without trying it on first but the sizing worked out well and the fabric has a really convincing suede texture up close. The coat feels substantial without being heavy to wear all day, wore it on a full day out shopping and never felt weighed down.
