Cropped or classic length

This is the decision that matters more than colour. A cropped Biker Style jacket stops at the natural waist and works over high-waisted jeans, midi skirts and dresses — it lengthens the leg because it ends where your waist does. A classic length sits on the hip and reads a little softer and more casual; it is the easier one over longer tops and knitwear.

If you own neither, start with the length that matches most of what is in your wardrobe. If everything you wear is high-waisted, take the cropped one.

Where it sits against the other shapes

The Cafe Racer Style jacket is the quieter version — straight centre zip, small collar, no lapels — and it is the one to pick if the Biker Style jacket feels like too much. The bomber is relaxed and rounded, with ribbed cuffs and hem. The Harrington is the tidy one with a point collar. The Biker Style jacket is the only one of the four that changes the tone of what you put it over.

Colour beyond black

Black is the workhorse and there is a reason most people start there — see women's black leather jackets. But the collection runs well past it. Brown and cognac are softer and warmer against denim and cream. Red and burgundy are the second jacket most people buy.
